Days 7-8 At Sea

Back to Homepage

Day 7 Sunday 11 August

Back at sea again, heading towards Sydney in quite rough seas. We had strong winds overnight, which have continued through the day.

This morning we held a scheduled tai chi class, not too many people attended but it was good fun.

In the afternoon I attended a talk by the cruise directer who told anecdotes of stupid passenger complaints, but also answered questions about people going overboard.

One interesting fact was that more people (mainly the younger generation) now miss the boat while ashore because they no longer wear watches, and sometimes the their phones update the time automatically to the wrong time.

We decided to spend the last two relaxing, however Frances developed a bad cold which sapped all her energy.

We usually had breakfast in the buffet, but we had evening meals in the restaurant with Carol and John.

Before dinner we usually checked out the show for the night at the early performance. This time it was "88 keys" which consisted of a medley of piano music, but again we decided instead to watch another episode of "Better Call Saul"

Day 8 Monday 12 August

Second sea day returning to Sydney, and the clocks were turned back an hour which meant a big sleep in for Frances who was still suffering from her cold. The seas became quite rough and sick bags started appearing throughout the ship although we were not really effected by the ship's movements.

Day 9 Tuesday 13 August

We arrived back in Sydney early in the morning, and disembarkation commenced at 7:30 am. The idea is to get the punters of the ship ASAP to refuel, restock and fill the ship with the next shipload of punters. We decided instead to have a leisurely breakfast and leave the ship at a more respectable 9am to catch the train back to Stanmore.
